Mandala means “sacred center” or “circle” in Tibetan. It symbolizes the universe in its most ideal form, unity, harmony, and the interconnectedness of all things. I hope that when people look at my pieces made of flowers, they see a natural world of which we are a part and for which we are responsible. The act of creating mandalas is supposed to turn suffering into joy through meditation; I have found this to be true. In the time of healing after the loss of my youngest son, the quiet, focused, meditative work of creating flower mandalas has brought me peace. They are all about process over final product and about accepting the temporary nature of life.
